Tributes were paid to Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who died in a car accident in July, with a minute’s silence before kick-off and applause in the 20th minute.

Debutant Hugo Ekitike broke the deadlock before halftime and assisted Cody Gakpo for the second shortly after the restart. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, who reported racial abuse during the first half, struck twice to level the game.
